Upcastable spells definition

higher levels is being used both for cantrips that scale with character level and for spells that benefit from upcasting. This is showing such cantrips as upcastable on spell tables, such as on List of cantrips. It seems the easy fix is to also check whether level is cantrip in the assignment of can_upcast. A related improvement is to hide the 'At higher levels' section and omit Category:Spells that gain benefits at higher levels for cantrips that don't scale with character level. For whatever reason, upcasting and cantrip scaling have been deliberately lumped together on the wiki. I agree that they should probably be separated, but I will wait for more discussion before changing this.

As for the other issues, the 'At higher levels' section should now be suppressed for cantrips without scaling. I am not seeing any issues with non-scaling cantrips being added to Category:Spells that gain benefits at higher levels, though. Can you give an example? Nope, the categorization is not an issue. I wasn't looking closely enough at the template source and conflated the cantrip categorization I was seeing on Acid Splash. Seems fine. Aschiff (talk) 07:39, 2 September 2025 (CEST)
