Talk:Lift the Shadow Curse
Halsin[edit section]
Players should note that leaving the Shadow-Cursed Lands at all before lifting curse, whether it's to go to Baldur's Gate or go to back to any of the Act 1 areas, will result in Halsin leaving the party permanently. Even though he says he will come back to your camp once you return, he doesn't. 98.46.126.104 08:51, 26 March 2025 (CET)
Failing 'The Spirit of the Land' does not lock out lifting the Shadow Curse.[edit section]
Players can still lift the shadow curse if you fail to protect the Portal to the Shadowfell, although this is not intended. Halsin will die (permanently) and be a corpse in your camp in Act III. Strangely, at the end of the game he will be alive again and present in the endgame cutscenes, albeit very naked.
To still complete the quest, you must prompt Oliver to enter his portal to Reithwin town. If you are unable to mention Thaniel, this can be accomplished by angering him through other means; a light non-fatal attack is enough to accomplish this. Then proceed to fight him as normal for his combat encounter detailed under the Oliver section of the quest, and convince him as normal to rejoin with Thaniel. Thaniel will appear at your camp (without Halsin) and instruct you to kill Ketheric Thorm to finally lift the curse.
Upon leaving Act II, you will see the land restored as if you completed The Spirit of the Land normally. 187.40.36.206 18:16, 20 September 2026 (CEST)
