Talk:Mystic Carrion
I'm confused about his physical resistances. Possibly immune to Bludgeoning damage. Slashing damage deals normal (no modifier applied). Piercing unknown.
Is Mystic Carrion SPB Immunity working in Honour Mode?[edit source]
My Astarion Rogue build is able to shoot normal ranged weapon attacks and hits Mystic Carrion for Piercing damage, when tooltip shows that this creature (boss) is Slashing, Piercing, Bludgeoning, Poison and Necrotic dmg IMMUNE. What is working(not working), the mechanics behind? Does anyone have any considered views to add, cheers and thanks. 118.200.180.122 17:31, 17 July 2024 (CEST)
- It could be that his Honour mode ability Torrential Undeath is bugged. It's supposed to make him immune to all damage types for 1 turn when he uses it. Ankoria (talk) 18:50, 17 July 2024 (CEST)
You get the letter by killing Carrion, but not destroying his heart, followed by keeping his heart on your person and long resting. This works even if Thrumbo vomited the heart up and you got the heart that way instead
I don't know how to upload an image but the letter says just so you know if we're on the same page
> I have returned and claimed what is mine - the jar you stole from my conduit's corpse. Consider yourself fortunate that you slumber so far from my lair, or you would never have awoken.
There is more to the letter but that's just a sample so you know if you see that letter that's the letter I'm thinking of 161.29.84.18 15:09, 9 October 2025 (CEST)
- Does this letter already have an own page on the wiki? Hawkeye (talk) 18:39, 9 October 2025 (CEST)
- If it does, it is not listed on Mystic Carrion's page. Also, a search on this wiki for the text as described above only turns up this page as a search result.
- It looks like a new page is needed for the note. Raelin (talk) 20:35, 9 October 2025 (CEST)
- Thanks for the heads up. The wiki page for the letter is added and is now included on this page. I would appreciate it if you can verify the "Where to find" section since I may have misinterpreted what you wrote. NtCarlson (talk) 20:45, 9 October 2025 (CEST)
- So basically the letter is something that appears depending on a branching quest choice. That choice being to kill Mystic Carrion without destroying his heart, yet keeping his heart with you. It's probably why it's been missed because it it goes against players' completionist nature. If they want to finish the destroy his immortality quest they're going to destroy his heart too. This letter requires leaving his heart alone, killing him then long resting 116.251.163.79 02:52, 10 October 2025 (CEST)

Multiple revisions[edit source]
Before persistently using the undo-redo function, it's better to discuss the issue. Always. As for the subject, the main difference between a lich and a mummy (mythical, not even D&D) is that a lich preserves his soul, not pieces of his body, to gain immortality. Carrion's jars resemble Egyptian canopies much more than phylacteries. Arikel (talk) 14:31, 22 December 2025 (CET)
- I think we figured it out, but just for posterity I'll include an elaboration here. In the D&D 5e Monster Manual there are separate entries for both the Mummy Lord and the Lich (well various Liches, actually). Under the Lich section, there is a good deal of explanation and rules regarding the functioning of their phylactery. Under the Mummy Lord section, it a describes a process of removing mummy's heart and viscera, and placing them in canopic jars. There are specific rules regarding how a Mummy Lord will resurrect itself so long as its heart is not destroyed, as well as the method to destroy its heart. While the mechanics and rules of these two monsters might be similar, neither entry references the other in any way, and it goes without saying that BG3 does not describe liches in any significant capacity, certainly not in regards to Mystic Carrion. It is therefore speculation (even if somewhat well-founded) to connect the two. Anything Random (talk) 20:22, 22 December 2025 (CET)
