Produce Flame

Produce Flame is a cantrip (Conjuration). It creates a blue flame in the caster's palm which emanates light and can be thrown at enemies.

Description

A flame in your hand sheds a light in a 9 m (30 ft) radius and deals 1d8⁠⁠Fire damage when thrown.

Throwing the flame immediately after you conjure it does not cost an  Action. Extinguishing or throwing it on subsequent turns costs an action. The throw has a range of 9 m (30 ft).

• At character level 5, the damage of the hurled flame increases to 2d8⁠⁠Fire.

Other ways to learn:

• There are no scrolls available for wizards to transcribe to their spellbooks.

Notes

• Objects such as torches, campfires, and braziers ignite when taking fire damage; this spell provides an easy way to ignite them from a distance.
• On console, if you did not enter combat with the flame in hand, you can use the Hurl action by casting the spell from the radial menu, then selecting the spell a second time, bringing up a submenu, and selecting Hurl. If you were holding a flame at the start of combat, you may have to create a radial menu option to Hurl the flame. Highlight the radial space you would like to use, then consult the bottom right for the contextual button to "Set Slot".
• Produce Flame has two incantations: "Fiat Lux", Latin for "let there be light", and "Sol Invictus", Latin for "unconquered sun".

Bugs

• The damage on the tooltip for Produce Flame is not marked correctly for the increases at level 5 and 10. The tooltip for the throwing action,  Produce Flame: Hurl, is marked correctly, and the damage scales correctly.
• The version of this Cantrip granted to Asmodeus tieflings uses the character's Wisdom modifier to hurl the flame, rather than Charisma as stated in the  Produce Flame: Hurl tooltip.
