Sussur Bloom

Sussur Bloom is a Miscellaneous Story Item which creates an antimagic field around itself. The bloom wilts and is ruined if brought out of the Underdark.

This bright blue flower, picked from a budding sussur tree, exudes a honey-sweet aroma, which turns foul and eventually fades away if the bloom is exposed to sunlight.

• Sussur blooms nullify nearby magic.

Where to find

• 4x - on and around the large Sussur Tree in the Dread Hollow of the Underdark at X: -14 Y: -138
• 2x - at the Garden just outside the door of the ground floor of the Arcane Tower

Usage

• The antimagic field affects nearby creatures as well as the character holding the item. It prevents the use of spells, but not of magical actions which are not spells, such as Channel Divinity Charges.
• Sussur Blooms can be used to disable  Animated Armours and Arcane Turrets. Doing so grants the inspiration ⁠Secrets of the Sussur Tree to party members with the Sage background.
•  Sorcerers have a special interaction the first time they are within the range of a Sussur Bloom, as being without their innate magic is unusual and unsettling to them. A companion may notice that the Sorcerer feels uncomfortable and chat briefly with them; companions react differently depending on their approval.  Draconic Sorcerers can specifically call out to their ancestor for help, but nothing happens.

Notes

• Blooms wither outside the underdark with two exceptions. Both preserve the anti-magic aura:
  • The Traveller's Chest in camp
  • Any locked container – It is possible to put items into a locked container without unlocking it by drag and drop.
• As the antimagic effect is applied via scripting, using cheats to spawn this item via its UUID results in a non-functional version of the item.

Bugs

• The antimagic field does not prevent characters from applying the cantrip  Guidance during dice rolls.
