This is a cantrip, and the summary says this. As such - like almost all others - it works with spellcasting ability. I think it needs no mention otherwise, and I think the entire note in question can be deleted, but I'll let others decide. Raelin (talk) 22:38, 22 September 2026 (CEST)
- The whole point was Sorrow is the only martial weapon granting a real cantrip up to late game (and Moonmote and Hellcleave arent 'cantrips' in the sense the player thinks about a cantrip), so it's a _real_ exception, worth to mention, specially when you see newbies using in a Fighter or Barbarian and they don't understand why is so difficult to hit with this action.
- In the opposite spectrum, weapon actions are only available if the character is proficient with them. But as there are no other martial weapon with a cantrip, someone playing a Wizard or a Druid might believe they won't get Lash due the lack of proficiency. The ones everyone know (staves like Gold Wyrmling and Mourning Frost) everyone can fight with them, is a valid assumption 'you need proficiency to get the ability'. The entry could support a player with info that is not obvious.

- I see your point (I think), but still disagree on the wording.
- In any case, I might be wrong (and it sure wouldn't be the first time), and this wiki operates on consensus. I don't feel strongly enough on this to continue, so I'm leaving this to you and others.
