The Baneful

The Baneful is a rare +1 shortsword that applies the  Bane condition on hit. This blade's magical powers only function if it's  Bound to an Eldritch Knight or is a Warlock's  Pact Weapon.

The wizard  Otiluke wrote about bound weapons and their propensity to coalesce with their wielder as the pair come together. He also wrote about their dangers, which are manifold, and their benefits, which make the danger worth it.

Notes

• This sword's magical powers only function if it's bound to an Eldritch Knight or is a Warlock's Pact or Hexed weapon. These effects are in addition to the weapon's +1 enchantment. Due to both the enchantment and the favoured weapon bonus stacking, this weapon is effectively a +2 weapon when bound.

Notes included from Baneful Bond:

• Baneful Bond does not display a saving throw roll in the combat log.

Bugs

• Although the description only mentions Bound Weapon and Bind Pact Weapon as enabling its Favoured Weapon passive, the Hexblade's Bind Hexed Weapon also works.
