Notes
- At the start of each turn, affected creatures make a saving throw to remove Confused. If the target fails, it makes another hidden, unmodifiable d20 roll to determine the effect of Confused for that turn.
- On a 10 or lower, the target is inflicted with Confused Stupor which stuns it for the duration of its turn.
- On an 11 or higher, the target takes its turn, but with its decision making driven by the madness AI archetype. This AI essentially chooses a random target (friend or foe) to attack, ignoring all factors that smarter NPCs consider like the target's AC, whether it is concentrating, etc. It also heavily deprioritises using control abilities like Hold Person in favour of simple attacks or damaging spells.[verify]
- There is no distinct "wander around aimlessly" outcome that the spell description alludes to.
- The incantation for Confusion is Demento Te, Latin for "I madden you".
