Involvement[edit section | visual editor]

Three Pearlspore Bells are in the basement of The Blushing MermaidThe Blushing Mermaid. These fungi, pulsating with healing energy, are the secret to Auntie Ethel's Auntie Ethel's supernatural regeneration. As long as one or more survive, a dead Auntie Ethel is resurrected at the start of the next turn with Fungal Resurrection Fungal Resurrection.

Destroying all three mushrooms allows the party to finally put an end to the hag's life. This can be achieved before the fight begins by going straight to her lair without confronting Ethel disguised as Captain Grisly Captain Grisly, placing a sufficient quantity of explosives near each bell, and triggering them simultaneously using a spell like Magic Missile Magic Missile or Scorching Ray Scorching Ray.

As suggested in  A Hunter's Guide to Hags, a Burning Burning condition blocks the Healing Pearl Healing Pearl restoration. Arrow of Ilmater Arrow of Ilmater or Bone Chilled Bone Chilled is also effective. Further, a burning over time effect such as Wall of Fire Wall of Fire not only inhibits healing, but progresses the damage against the spore while the caster focuses on other parts of the combat.

Tactician and up[edit section | visual editor]

Under Tactician, the Pearlspore Bells have 97 HP and the conditions Fungal Resistance Fungal Resistance and Volatile Fungus Volatile Fungus.
