The celebration is in full swing.

The tiefling refugree celebration is a special camp event which occurs after completing either Defeat the GoblinsDefeat the Goblins or Raid the Emerald GroveRaid the Emerald Grove, while siding with the tieflings.

We can worry about the road tomorrow. Tonight, we drink!
Rhy, celebrating the victory over the goblins

Overview[edit section | visual editor]

After the party defeated the goblin leaders or successfully defended the Emerald Grove, the tiefling refugees pack their belongings to leave the grove. Speaking with ZevlorZevlor – or to CerysCerys in case Zevlor has died – initiates the feast when the next Long Rest is taken.

The event is mutually exclusive with the Goblin Celebration, which happens if the party side with the goblins during Raid the Emerald GroveRaid the Emerald Grove.

Zevlor and the tiefling refugees appear at camp and start a celebration before leaving for Baldur's Gate. The choices prior to this event determine who appears during the feast. This event allows the player character to possibly initiate romantic encounters with more than one companion, and at much lower approval rates than otherwise required; it also grants the Guardian of the ForgottenGuardian of the Forgotten to party members with the Folk HeroFolk Hero background.

During the festivities, in addition to the party's regular camp followers, numerous characters can be interacted with.

Companions[edit section | visual editor]

Every recruited companion can be spoken with during the celebration, with a higher chance of romance. Typically a romance option is open if the player character has 20 or more approval and has either not started any romance or is involved in no more than one other active romance. Companions sometimes comment on who the player character is interested in or "commit to" during the party, influencing their dialogue afterward. During conversation a romance scene can be unlocked, but if there is more than one option, it is only upon going to sleep that the player character chooses among these potential romances.

Depending on the player character's prior choices and which companion is spoken with first, more than one romance can be started (e.g., Shadowheart, then Lae'zel and then Karlach). In addition, all companions have dialogue if they are already being romanced by the player character, if a romance has been ended, or if their approval is not yet high enough.

Companions can be found at their regular camp spot, except WyllWyll, who moves closer to the water side for this event.

Astarion[edit section | visual editor]

If this is the first time the player character engages in close relations with AstarionAstarion, it first triggers a dialogue with him stating the party was insufficiently rewarded for their heroics (and explaining what he would like to receive instead). If the player character agrees, Astarion becomes a romance option when they go to sleep. If he is picked a cutscene triggers as described on his romance page.

If the player character slept with Astarion before the celebration, Astarion tries to entice the player character into another sexual encounter, paying compliments and finally even confessing his love (though admitting quickly and readily it is an obvious lie). Choosing "I think it's better if we leave last time as a once-off" ends the relationship with Astarion. If the player character agrees to spend the night, there is no additional romantic scene; it is simply implied.

Gale[edit section | visual editor]

Gale gazing at a conjured image of Mystra.

If the player character has not yet triggered a romance scene with GaleGale, he thanks the player character upon initiating conversion for seeking him out. When going to sleep the player character can seek out Gale and his Mystra cutscene plays, as described on his romance page.

If the player character is already romancing Gale, or has ended their romance, he instead talks about his companion TaraTara and their history together.

Lae'zel[edit section | visual editor]

See also: Lae'zel/Romance

The tiefling celebration night offers another opportunity to romance Lae'zelLae'zel. If the player character agrees to her offer, and picks her as option when going to sleep, her cutscene plays as described on her romance page.

If scene already happened, an exclamation point may appear above [!] her head. If spoken with, Lae'zel observes she has, on several occasions since their first night together, caught the player character looking at her "with lidded eyes" and perhaps, as she sees it, wants to sleep with her again. If the player character agrees with her assessment, she reminds them she never promised to be with them more than once. If they agree but promise to stop, she deflects, answering, "I did not say it was unwelcome." With either choice, she playfully challenges the longing player character with an offer: "Tempt me." Any response except declining results in approval. When they go to sleep an option think about Lae'zel can then be picked.

Karlach[edit section | visual editor]

See also: Karlach/Romance

The camp celebration is a key moment in Karlach'sKarlach's romance story. Regardless of approval, the player character can inform Karlach how much they like her and Karlach excitedly agrees to visit the player character after everybody else goes to sleep that night.

Alert Icon.png Karlach's normal method of offering to start a romance is bugged and no longer triggers without mods. As a result, Karlach's romance can only start at this tiefling celebration.

If there is an already-planned romance scene (having talked to another companion) Karlach comments on it. However, she still awkwardly asks if the player character wants to spend time with her later instead.

If Karlach is chosen, when the player character goes to sleep, she visits and lies next to them. The player character is not able to actually touch Karlach yet, as her quest The Hellion's HeartThe Hellion's Heart cannot be progressed past the first step in Act One. However, she can be convinced to try a brief kiss – which the player character can either end quickly or embrace the moment. Both options result in burnt lips, but with different dialogue.

Shadowheart[edit section | visual editor]

Shadowheart, spending a quiet evening alone with the player character. She is hoping for a kiss.

At the celebration ShadowheartShadowheart can be approached in conversation, during which she admits she has begun to care about the refugees and is confused by these unexpected emotions. She also confesses that she feels guilty toward her mistress, Lady SharLady Shar.

If the player character is eligible for romance with Shadowheart she invites them to "share a bottle" with her. Picking her as option results in her waterfall cutscene unfolding as described on her romance page while going to sleep.

The next day, the player character can speak with Shadowheart about the previous night. Her response varies depending on her approval level and on what did or did not occur during the encounter.

Wyll[edit section | visual editor]

Wyll sulking by himself near the water.

WyllWyll is by the water during the celebration, secluded from the festivities and in a state of melancholy. The player character can talk to him and attempt to cheer him up through various dialogue options. They also have options to flirt with Wyll, including playing a guessing game, asking for a dance or asking for a kiss instead. The kiss requires a DC 15 Charisma or Persuasion Check DC 15 Charisma or Persuasion Check, but failing does not lock the player character out of his romance.

If the player character successfully flirts with Wyll, he responds with a promise: "There will be another time for us." This confirms they are now dating. Afterwards, the player character can select "hoping to dream of Wyll" when going to rest.

Wyll rejects the player character during this conversation if they already agreed to spend the night with another companion, are double-dating or have less than 10 Approval with him.

After the celebration, the player character can talk about their romantic moment regardless of the kiss or not; either way, Wyll states he has planned something for them.

Other interactions[edit section | visual editor]

The way forward[edit section | visual editor]

Near the trunk serving as bridge across the water, ZevlorZevlor and HalsinHalsin stand near each other. When spoken to, Zevlor expresses his delight that his people are saved and happy. He thanks the player character for helping. In case Zevlor has died CerysCerys takes his place. Instead of simply enjoying the night, she is listing herbs for a hangover cure and plans to go foraging.

Halsin urges the player character to enjoy the evening instead of worrying for tomorrow. Although he can be flirted with, his romance scenes are not available at this point.

The morning following the tiefling's celebration, Halsin tells the party about the two leads he has on how to reach the Shadow-Cursed Lands: travelling through the Mountain Pass, which would be less dangerous at first but would mean a longer journey through the shadow curse, or exploring the Underdark in search of an alternative route, which would bypass some of the shadow curse but comes with all the dangers inherent there. Both routes are part of the overarching quest Travel to Moonrise TowersTravel to Moonrise Towers which starts from this point onward.

Alfira[edit section | visual editor]

In the middle of the campsite AlfiraAlfira is busy writing a new song. Her companion LakrissaLakrissa occasionally drops by and gives her some suggestions. If she is spoken to she says she feels inspired, wants to compose a new song about the player character and asks for input on what it should be about.

  • Not really. I'm not much of a bard.
  • How about courage? Classic song material.
  • Have you seen this body? It would be a crime not to sing about it.
  • Honestly? I'd rather you didn't.
  • If I hear my name in a song, your life is forfeit.
  • [BARD] If I want a song about me, I'll write it myself.
  • [BARBARIAN] How about the goblin spines I'd ripped out with my bare hands?
  • [CLERIC] I don't deserve such praise. I serve a higher power.
  • [FIGHTER] Sing about my prowess in battle.
  • [HALF-DROW] [HALF-ELF] [HALF-ORC] Maybe a song about my mixed heritage? It's a point of pride for me.
  • [LOLTH-SWORN] Sing about surface elves - and how filthy and pathetic they are.
  • [TIEFLING] Sing about our people. We deserve it.
  • [ASTARION] There's just so much. Let's start with my physical beauty and go from there.
  • [GALE] I'd rather hear a song about Mystra.
  • [KARLACH] Make it a song for everyone who fought. Couldn't have done it alone.
  • [WYLL] Just mention the legend that is the Blade of Frontiers, the hardiest hero to ever travel the Sword Coast.

Afterwards, Alfira mentions that things have begun spinning due to her wine and she will return to creating the song next morning.

If Alfira does not survive to the time of the camp celebration, ChellChell shows up instead; she does not provide similar songwriting questions.

Lakrissa & Zae[edit section | visual editor]

Zae urging the player character on for a dance.

If LakrissaLakrissa does not survive to the celebration, ZaeZae replaces her. She is slightly intoxicated and asks the player character for a dance. Bards have a specific line to excitedly accept. while Githyanki can decline saying "I only dance the dance of death - in battle.".

If the player character accepts Zae's invitation, the following options can be selected.

  • Sway your arms and hips.
  • [PERFORMANCE] Spin in a circle - hands drifting through the air. (DC 10)
  • [PERFORMANCE] Kick out a jaunty two-step. (DC 10)
  • [DRAGONBORN] [PERFORMANCE] Perform an ancient waltz of victory. (DC 10)
  • [BARBARIAN] [STRENGTH] Stamp the ground and ROAR. (DC 10)
  • [BARD] [PERFORMANCE] Begin a classical Baldurian courtier's dance. (DC 10)
  • [BARD] [PERFORMANCE] Improvise a unique dance. (DC 10)

The first option is deemed too boring by Zae – selecting any other option and dancing successfully grants the CelebrantCelebrant inspiration to characters with the EntertainerEntertainer background. It also grants approval to some companions. Gale approves +1 Karlach approves +5 Shadowheart approves +1

Barcus[edit section | visual editor]

Celebration fireworks from Barcus

It is possible to have BarcusBarcus join the celebration at the campsite if he has been rescued from both the windmill at the Blighted Village and the dig at Grymforge. He must be asked to join the camp at Grymforge after which he becomes a camp follower.

During the celebration Barcus can be asked to join the festivities, but he states its your victory, not his. He still worries about his friend WulbrenWulbren. Despite his reluctance, he can be persuaded to set off fireworks for the celebration.

A new name[edit section | visual editor]

Asking the player character pause for a while with him, VoloVolo relates how he wants to do a naming for them, a so called "nom de guerre". The player character can make a suggestion, like 'Grovekeeper' or 'Goblinsbane', but Volo wants something grander, more dramatic and then excuses himself to deliberate.

A potential murder[edit section | visual editor]

During the quest Save ArabellaSave Arabella the acting archdruid KaghaKagha can let her snake kill the tiefling child ArabellaArabella. In this case she is present at the celebration, but so are Arabella's parents KomiraKomira and LockeLocke. Whether or not she feels guilty depends on how the quest Investigate KaghaInvestigate Kagha is resolved and if she repented. Arabella's parents then poison Kagha and Komira tries to assault her with a knife. A conversation option is available to the player character to convince her to stop her attack (DC 15 Persuasion Check DC 15 Persuasion Check). The poison can be cured after afterwards with for instance Lesser RestorationLesser Restoration. Kagha thanks the party profusely and vows to improve herself.

Korrilla[edit section | visual editor]

Regardless of potential interactions with Korrilla before, she can briefly be found at the campsite. Shortly after the celebration starts, Korrilla teleports to the shoreline of the camp, to a spot between where WyllWyll and any hirelings are hanging out during the party. If the player character stands too close to her teleport location, she immediately disappears and sneaks towards the spot where GaleGale is camped; the party may briefly interact with her before she disappears again.

The other tieflings[edit section | visual editor]

Groups of tieflings are spread throughout the camp, and can be spoken with. The couple BexBex and DanisDanis are near a trunk which serves as bench. Bex attempts to dance but realises she has had several drinks too many. Githyanki characters get a unique "humorous" dialogue option, asking about cats.

The siblings CalCal, LiaLia and RolanRolan are nearby. Rolan performs a magic show for his brother and sister, and the player character can applaud his performance, though his siblings playfully chide him.

The tieflings IkaronIkaron and GuexGuex occasionally banter together. Ikaron is rather unhappy about the festivities, thinking that the fallen tieflings should be commemorated. He can be persuaded to join the others with a DC 5 Charisma Check DC 5 Charisma Check. Upon success he admits that drinking will make the situation more tolerable. Guex is excited for their destination Baldur's Gate, finally saying goodbye to caves, tents and running away, instead settling down in homes.

Across the bridge next to Halsin and Zevlor on the waterside stands MolMol. She has found a reclusive spot after having stolen some wine. Mol reveals she is planning on selling it for an expensive price once the attendees run out of drinks. If she was given the idol during the quest Steal the Sacred IdolSteal the Sacred Idol, but the idol is then pickpocketed or bought from her before the celebration, she instead comments that someone managed to steal the idol and she would like to them recruit if she finds out who it was.

Other camp followers[edit section | visual editor]

Despite the celebration, WithersWithers stands at his usual spot, having dialogue options no different than normal. The potential pets Owlbear CubOwlbear Cub and ScratchScratch are also present, and excited about the many celebrating people around them.
