Act 3[edit section | visual editor]

Avery Sonshal is in charge of Felogyr's Fireworks, a workshop that sells various crackers and pyrotechnics to Baldurian citizens, including children. When approaching him, a cutscene triggers, during which he checks one of his underage clients', Willow Willow, knowledge of the rules concerning safe usage of fireworks.

As the cutscene continues, Avery addresses the next question to the party. He is tadpoled and aware of the cult, so he immediately recognizes fellow True Souls, calling them telepathically friends of Enver Gortash Enver Gortash. Half of the conversation henceforth is kept up in the same manner.

The party may ask Avery to give them a free sample of the workshop's production. He then gives them 1-3  Smokepowder Arrows.

After that, there are several options within dialogue. The party may choose the line What else do you do for Gortash?. Sonshal then speaks aloud some gibberish, while again giving the real answer telepathically - he clearly does not want his dealings with Gortash to be exposed:

[2]
  • [DECEPTION] Gortash sent me to check on your latest order. (DC 15)
  • [INTIMIDATION] Your latest order is late. Gortash demands to know why. (DC 15)

Avery tries to offer excuses, saying that his establishment keeps the schedule, and leaking a word by the way that Gortash is somehow connected with the Gondians. If the party fails the check, Avery becomes suspicious but ultimately does not call the guards, and the party can press him again:

[2]
  • [DECEPTION] Masquerading? Don't you recognise a servant of Gortash when you see one? (DC 18)
  • [INTIMIDATION] How DARE you? I am exactly who I proclaim to be! (DC 18)
  • [SORCERER] [INTIMIDATION] Careful - my magic can be quite unpredictable, and I'd hate to see this place go up in flames. (DC 18 Advantage Icon.png)
  • [ROGUE] [INTIMIDATION] Question me again and your body will never be found. (DC 18 Advantage Icon.png)
  • [BARBARIAN] [INTIMIDATION] *ROAR!* (DC 18 Advantage Icon.png)

There is also an option to tell Avery the password obtained from Arfur Gregorio Arfur Gregorio in Wyrm's Crossing (either blackmailing him, intimidating him, or using Speak with Dead Speak with Dead on his corpse):

[2]
  • Recall the merchant's password. 'Uncle Felogyr sent me.'

Hearing the password, Avery lets the party proceed to the first floor of the workshop, but forewarns them not to wander further upstairs. Saying this, he acts in an overly theatrical way, which allows to suspect that 'Uncle Felogyr' is a totally imaginary person.

Using the password grants one or both of the following inspirations:

The party can also ask Avery to trade. However, speaking with him again after trading has the 'password' dialogue line still available.

Avery Sonshal can be pickpocketed. Apart from trading goods, the party may also loot from him  Felogyr's Fireworks Cellar Key,  Fireworks Workshop Key,  Counting House Vault nº5 Key, and a  Soot-Stained Letter.

As the quest Investigate the Suspicious ToysInvestigate the Suspicious Toys cannot be ultimately resolved in a peaceful way, Avery Sonshal joins the fight as soon as he notices any ill commotion, siding with the followers of Bane Bane, who reside on the second floor of the building. He runs upstairs and attacks the party along with the other Felogyr's employees.
