Harper Blaird is a high elven ranger and a member of the Harpers[1] in Act Three. He joins Jaheira Jaheira in the battle against the Dark Urge, should the latter choose to accept and embrace their heritage.

Temple of Bhaal[edit section | visual editor]

Should the Dark Urge defeat Orin the Red Orin the Red and embrace Bhaal's gift, becoming the latter's Chosen, the Harpers set up an ambush at the entrance of the Temple of Bhaal, provided Jaheira Jaheira is alive.[2]

Led by Jaheira and accompanied by Minsc Minsc (if rescued), the Harpers stand guard on the bridge leading out of the temple, preventing the party from leaving. The party then have a brief exchange with Jaheira concerning the Dark Urge's role as the Chosen of Bhaal, and should Minsc be present, have the ability to psionically control him into stabbing Jaheira in the back through his Mind Flayer Tadpole. Doing so immediately kills Jaheira, and triggers combat with Minsc, Blaird, and the rest of the Harpers.

Alternatively, if the Dark Urge withdraws from Minsc's mind, Jaheira can potentially convince Gale Gale (if under 20 approval), Karlach Karlach (if under 40 approval), or Wyll Wyll (always) to turn their side, forcing the party to kill them in the ensuing fight with the Harpers.

  1. ↑ Unlike other Harpers, Blaird and the nearby Harpers do not conform to their organization's brown and blue colour patterns. Instead, Glist Glist and Blaird wear armour identical in appearance to  Studded Leather Armour in green and tan colours, and a  Red Carmine Mask.
  2. ↑ If Jaheira is dead but still a member of the party when the Dark Urge embraces their heritage, Blaird and his companions may still be found at the gates but do not attack, and Jaheira (and Minsc, if he is a party member) is permanently removed as a companion.[verify]
