Qudenos

Qudenos is a red dragon encountered at the Mountain Pass. He serves  Kith'rak Voss, a legendary Githyanki knight in search of the  Mysterious Artefact.

Overview

Qudenos is a red dragon who has lived for many centuries, bearing the weight of uncounted battles. Under a pact with the goddess Tiamat, he serves as a mount and companion to Kith'rak Voss.

Involvement

Act One

Qudenos can first be spotted flying around the Mountain Pass while using the telescope at the Emerald Grove. Upon reaching the pass, he flies overhead on his way to meet Kith'rak Voss and his fellow githyanki. The sight of Qudenos causes party members to become frightened unless they pass a saving throw.

After speaking to Voss at the mountain pass, he and Qudenos fly off together.

Act Three

Qudenos and Voss can both be met later in the Lower City Sewers, if Voss is alive and the quest The Githyanki Warrior is in progress. While travelling in Baldur's Gate, Qudenos takes the form of a dragonborn.

While speaking to Qudenos, he reveals he is one among many red dragon rebels, loyal to the people and not to ⁠Vlaakith. After freeing Orpheus, Qudenos plans to carry Voss into battle to defeat Vlaakith.

If attacked, Qudenos and Voss teleport away at their turn. However, even if Qudenos is killed before managing to teleport away, he can still be a potential ally during the final battle.

Idle banter

Qudenos has an idle conversation with Voss inside the Lower City Sewers in Act Three.

  Even with Prince Orpheus to guide us, we are too small in number to defeat Vlaakith alone.

• Kith'rak Voss

  We will not be alone, Qudenos.

• Kith'rak Voss

  For a thousand years, we have been planting the seeds of revolution.

  In every crèche, many young whisper Orpheus' name. They do Vlaakith's duty, but out of fear, not faith.

• Kith'rak Voss

  When the Prince of the Comet blazes his path, they will follow. And so will countless others.

• Kith'rak Voss

  The time is soon upon us, Qudenos. I will not forget your loyalty, friend.

• Qudenos

  The lich queen has shackled the red dragons as surely as she has shackled the githyanki.

• Qudenos

  You will be the first to battle. And I will be the one to carry you.

• Qudenos

  This Lae'zel and her allies. Can they be trusted?

• Kith'rak Voss

  You ask the wrong question. It is not a matter of 'can'. It is a matter of 'must'.

  Whether by fortune or necessity, fate made its choice.

  Lae'zel was the opportunity we prayed for. This may be our one chance to secure githyanki freedom.
