Mask of Regret (Overgrown Tunnel)
The Mask of Regret is a lightfoot halfling member of Auntie Ethel's flock. She is in the Overgrown Tunnel inside the Riverside Teahouse / Gnarled Teahouse in Act One.
Involvement[edit section | visual editor]
Like the other Masks, the Mask of Regret is initially hostile by virtue of wearing a Whispering Mask, placing her under the charming effect of Part of the Flock.
Act One[edit section | visual editor]
If her Whispering Mask is removed has long as the hag is alive, her mind collapses and she dies. Her mask cannot be pickpocketed off of her in the Overgrown Tunnel; she must be knocked unconscious for it to be looted.
If the halfling is encountered after Ethel was killed (taking Ethel's deal and letting her go does not work; taking Ethel's deal and then killing her does), she is no longer hostile and regains her sanity. She explains that she initially sought out Ethel's aid to cure her mother's dementia. Party members with the Folk Hero background then gain the Unmasking the Truth inspiration.
She alludes to the existence of a hag coven and vows to travel to Baldur's Gate to shore up support for other hag victims.
Act Three[edit section | visual editor]
The "Mask of Regret", now named Hydrangea Wubb, can be encountered at Old Garlow's Place in the Lower City as part of the quest Help the Hag Survivors.
Combat[edit section | visual editor]
Attacks and actions[edit section | visual editor]
Mask of Regret must succeed a DC 17 Wisdom Saving Throw at the start of each of her turns or become affected by Hag's Pawn. If she succeeds the throw, she passes her turn without harming the party.
