Overview[edit | edit source]

While inside the Lower City Sewers, the minimap name becomes "Undercity Ruins" while walking north through a stone archway at roughly X: -138 Y: 907.
Entry area[edit | edit source]
At the northern most point of the city sewers is the entrance to the Undercity Ruins through a stone arch. In the area immediately after the arch is the Undercity Ruins Waypoint. To the west, Voiceless Penitent Bareki has some items for sale, further on is a passageway that leads to the Ancient Lair. Behind Bareki is a pouch containing Sarin's Skull, and past the opening beyond is a hatch which is another entrance to the Ancient Lair.
The route to the rest of the area is blocked by a magical stone door. It is immune to lock-picking but the doorway can be unlocked in a few other ways.
- Using a ranged attack on one of the two corpses hanging from the ceiling in the center of the room at X: -142 Y: 934
- Casting Knock on it
- Becoming an Unholy Assassin of Bhaal via Impress the Murder Tribunal
- Showing an Amulet of Bhaal
The Ambush[edit | edit source]

Past the locked door, the party members are ambushed by Bhaalists and have four rounds to get to Farslayer of Bhaal Ghislev, who has marked the party as targets of Power Word: Kill. One of the ambushers is Strangler Luke, who melees the party. All the other ambushers prefer to use magic or ranged weapons. Across the bridge, Manglin' Abby also engages in melee with attacks that can push characters into the chasm.
The ambush can also mostly be avoided by using stealth and cutting across the cavern to the east, just after the initial path opens up into the area.
When crossing the white bridge the nearby archers use Pushing Attack (Ranged) to knock party members off the bridge.
The Stairs[edit | edit source]
Following the ambush area, the party members can continue downstairs where they have to decide to either go up north towards the Morphic Pool Docks, or go down further towards the "Temple of Bhaal" waypoint. Going down, multiple Whispering Statues can be seen along the route, reciting Alaundo's Bhaalspawn prophecy.
A grotesque murder scene can be found at one of the statues. Part of it is the corpse of Wilting Alex, which contains Dribbles' head, one of the body parts needed for Find Dribbles the Clown.
Bhaal Temple[edit | edit source]
Travelling east on the bridge adjacent to the "Temple of Bhaal" waypoint, the area becomes fast-travel restricted after X: -41 Y: 1006, but the minimap name still reads "Undercity Ruins". Entry to the temple is at the end of the bridge but blocked by a pair of "Solid Doors", which is locked by special means until Farslayer Ghislev is defeated. If the Farslayer is defeated the doors still require a key to open, which is the Amulet of Bhaal[1]. After crossing the threshold of these doors, the party can enter the Bhaal Temple, the innermost sanctum of the Cultists of Bhaal, headed by Orin the Red.
Morphic Pool Docks[edit | edit source]

After crossing the bridge where the ambush occurrs and moving through the ruins, a path leads north. It winds down to an open doorway that opens onto the docks. After the first (broken) pier, the road leads up to a small area which contains a campfire and a Wooden Chest with gold and alchemical ingredients.
A partially broken bridge leads to the last part of the dock, where the "Morphic Pool Dock" waypoint is located. Several limbs are on the ground, possibly eaten by the many rats. On a table is the book Evading the Elder Brain. On the pier to the west is a Wooden Chest with gold and Thieves' Tools. The northern pier leads to a Skiff, which is used to travel to the Morphic Pool.
The dock area is also home to a swarm of Cranium Rats. They become temporarily hostile if the party wander too close to the Morphic Pool Dock before obtaining all three Netherstones.
