From bg3.wiki

Gnoll Hunters are generic gnoll enemies found in Act One. They are feral hyena-like humanoids that slaughter indiscriminately in an attempt to quell the insatiable hunger granted by their demonic creator, Yeenoghu.

Cunning and fierce trackers among gnolls, they are the most common type of their kind.
