Veteran Gish

Veteran Gish are a stronger archetype of githyanki Gish characters encountered throughout Baldur's Gate 3.

Involvement

As Battlemages who blend arcane spellcasting with melee combat, gish soldiers are strong, versatile combatants.

They are in the Knights of the Shield Hideout in Baldur's Gate or in the Upper City during Act Three.

 Astral Step ()

Surrounded by silver mist, you teleport to an unoccupied space you can see.

 Range: 18 m (60 ft)

 Blindness ( + )

Limit a foe's sight range. It is easier to hit, and the creature will miss more often.

 Attack Rolls against it have  Advantage and the foe attacks with  Disadvantage.

 CON Save

 Range: 18 m (60 ft)

 Burning Hands ( + )

Damage: 3~18

3d6⁠Fire

Each flammable target is hit with 3d6⁠⁠Fire damage.

 DEX Save

 Range: Self

 AoE: 5 m (17 ft) Cone

 Counterspell ( + )

Try to stop a spell being cast.

If it is higher level than the spell slot you used to Counterspell, you must make a check using your spellcasting ability^{[See: Bugs]} to prevent it. The check's difficulty is equal to 10 plus the level of the spell you are trying to counter.

This spell can be cast while you are  Silenced.

 Hold Person ( + )

Hold a humanoid enemy still. They can't move, act, or react. Attacks from within 3 m (10 ft) are always Critical Hits.

At the end of each turn, the affected creature can make a  Wisdom Saving Throw to end this condition.

 Ray of Frost ()

Damage: 1~8

1d8⁠Cold

Reduces the target's Movement Speed by 3 m (10 ft).

 Shocking Grasp ()

Damage: 1~8

1d8⁠Lightning

The target cannot use Reactions. This spell has  Advantage on creatures with metal Armour.

 Melee: 1.5 m (5 ft)
