Vonayn's Home is a Location within the Lower City in Act Three of Baldur's Gate 3.

Overview[edit section | visual editor]

Vonayn's Home is a small private dwelling in the Brampton district of Baldur's Gate, located east of Philgrave's Mansion and down from Barren's Coop and Bruc and Pishe's Emporium. It has one story and a vast basement, opening into a natural cave half-filled with the waters of the river Chionthar.

Vonayn's Home has the only entrance, located at X: 53 Y: -120. It can be reached by taking the stairs up from the beach at the eastern docks or climbing down knotted vines hanging from a breach in the stone railing above, between the Barren's Coop and Bruc and Pishe's Emporium.

Building layout[edit section | visual editor]

Ground floor[edit section | visual editor]

Inside the house is a single room with a bed and a kitchen with a stove. Containers around the room do not keep any remarkable items, except the wardrobe (see Involvement section below). Atop the wardrobe lies the Beach House Hatch Key which opens an a locked hatch out on the porch at X: 61 Y: -123 and leads to the basement. Otherwise, the hatch requires DC 15 Sleight of Hand Check DC 15 Sleight of Hand Check to lockpick.

The initial room has several empty boxes and an oak door leading to a hallway with numerous tripwires. Another oak door leads to a smaller hallway; at its end is a lever inside a small rock alcove. The lever must be hit from a distance, for instance by using a Ranged AttackRanged Attack.

Hitting the lever opens a false wall revealing a living area with a makeshift dock and a half afloat rowboat. On a table in the corner is some Gold Pile Single Item Image.png gold.

In the open area with the dock is a bed with a backpack X: 61 Y: -123 beside it, which contains the Counting House Safe nº6 Key. Several documents, like the Smuggler's Note on a table and To 'One-Eye' reveal that the house was previously used to smuggle goods and people in and out of Baldur's Gate.

In the cave-area to the east is a trapped Wooden Chest with some Gold Pile Single Item Image.png gold and a random potion. It stands next to an Acid Barrel, causing a failed disarming to explode together with the chest.

Involvement[edit section | visual editor]

Exploring the house is a pivotal point in the Find Mystic Carrion's ServantFind Mystic Carrion's Servant quest – the runaway zombie ThrumboThrumbo is hiding here. Throughout the quest, the party can learn several "milestones" on where to search:

  • Reading Thrumbo's Note in the Philgrave's Mansion
  • "Thrumbo was going to get us a boat. He must be somewhere near the water." - from Strange Beggar LumbarStrange Beggar Lumbar
  • "Down the stairs, across the sand. Down the stairs, across the sand..." - from Strange Beggar MorbusStrange Beggar Morbus
  • "Thrumbo had a plan. He was going to find us an abandoned house, somewhere to hide away from Carrion. You have to search them thoroughly. Especially the wardrobes - Thrumbo said that's the smartest place to hide." - from Strange Beggar SacrumStrange Beggar Sacrum

Thus, the pieces of the puzzle eventually lead not only to the Vonayn's Home, but to the wardrobe inside. Opening the wardrobe causes Thrumbo to jump out and start a conversation. Afterwards, if a fight is not started, Thrumbo stays in the room until the quest is resolved.
