Proficiency

Characters who are proficient in Athletics can add their Proficiency Bonus when making  Ability Checks.

The following backgrounds grant proficiency in Athletics:

•  Outlander
•  Soldier

The following classes can choose to select Athletics as a proficient skill at Level 1:

•  Barbarian
•  Bard
•  Fighter
•  Monk
•  Paladin
•  Ranger
•  Rogue

Uses

• Used to  Shove other creatures
• Used to resist being  Shoved (Either Athletics or Acrobatics, whichever is higher)
