Cleric is a character class in Baldur's Gate 3.

Overview[edit section | visual editor]

Clerics worship and enact their deity's will to the world, for better or worse. They channel the power of their faith to cast Spells. Clerics use Wisdom as their primary ability score.

Level progression[edit section | visual editor]

Through experience, you acquire new power. You gain the following traits.

Level 1[edit section | visual editor]

Select Deity

A Cleric's choice of deity provides access to some unique conversation options throughout the game, but have few gameplay implications otherwise. The deities that trigger the most unique options are Selûne and Mystra, mostly due to interactions with Shadowheart Shadowheart and Gale Gale respectively. Some Cleric spells have visual effects that incorporate the chosen deity's symbol.

Note that choice of deity is restricted by the race and subrace of the cleric. Only Githyanki have the option to choose Vlaakith as a deity, only Duergar have the option to choose Laduguer as a deity, Lolth-Sworn Drow may only choose Lolth as a deity, and Seldarine Drow cannot choose Lolth as a deity. The deity choice for Shadowheart is fixed, and the deity choice screen will not show when selecting the Cleric class. She will have Shar Shar as picked deity.

Notable clerics[edit section | visual editor]

Notes[edit section | visual editor]

  1. ↑ Gaining two proficiencies by multiclassing into Cleric is likely a bug, since no other class grants this upon multiclassing. It is also a deviation from the D&D 5e rules.
